Charles William Brown was born on October 11, 1846 in Hobart, Colony of Tasmania, son of Richard Brown (1798–1873) and Margery Skuse (1802–1871). [1]

Charles married Mary Eleanor Elliott (born about 1847).

Charles died on July 4, 1932 in Invercargill, Southland, New Zealand, aged 85. [2]
