Mattie Mae Brown was born on May 9, 1892 in North Carolina, the daughter or Joe Brown and Vallie Robinson Brown. She married Carl Seay. They had the following children:

1. Clara (Seay) Ramsey,
2. Bula Seay died at 3 days old ^[1]
3. Bobby Seay,
4. Vashti Seay and
5. Paul E. Seay

Mattied died on April 2, 1934 in Spartanburg County, South Carolina. ^[2]She was buried at Boiling Springs First Baptist Church Cemetery in Boiling Springs, Spartanburg County, South Carolina. ^[3]
