Biography

James was a Friend (Quaker)

James was born on 16d 9m 1752 [18 Sep 1752] in Dutchess, New York Colony.[1] He was the son of Nathaniel C Brown and Elizabeth (Pearsall) Brown.[1]

He married first Vashti Handy, daughter of Job (deceased) and Mary Handy, on 23d 11m 1808 [23 Nov 1808].[2]

The couple, along with their children John and Jedidiah, were received on certificate at the Hudson monthly meeting on 22d 8m 1815 [22 Aug 1815].[3]

He married second Elizabeth Drake.

He died on 7 Dec 1827 in Chatham, Columbia, New York.
