Hi Wilson, I saw your message on the profile for Obadiah Bruen Brown. I am the manager for his profile but I'm not related to the Browns. I just added him since I was working on the Chaplains of the U.S. Senate project. If you are related and wish to be added as manager to his profile please let me know. I will be happy to do that for you. As far as adding your GEDCOM file from Ancestry.com, I have never done it but I'm sure you can ask for assistance on G2G forum. This page explains things about this procedure. http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/GEDCOM. - James Stratman-17
Wilson, you are now a member of WikiTree! Please help us build one Collaborative Global Family Tree, which means only one profile per person. It's important that no duplicates are created and profiles are properly sourced.
I have worked on genealogy since the 1970s, tracing to varying degrees all of my own ancestors, and a good many of my wife's.
I am familiar with the families of John Brown of Milford and Newark (1620-1690), The Courter family of New Amsterdam and NJ, Ashbee of Kent and NJ, Ham of Berkshire & Hampshire. On my wife's side, I have worked on Irish Perry, and Stacey, and New England and Ontario Marsh and Young. We recently finished a book, Col. William Marsh, Vermont Patriot and Loyalist, well reviewed in several journals.
I was a professor of economics and of business as a career and try to hold academic standards in relaying and using other people's work.
I have been appalled at late at the poor standards and erroneous matters that spread like a virus through the genealogical nets.
How To Use WikiTree is a good place to start. It is a step-by-step-guide to WikiTree basics. Our G2G Forum is searchable or you can post a question there. The Help Index is also an important place to find how to do most tasks.
If you would like to contribute your family's tree and you agree with our Honor Code (click the link to it in the drop-down menu in "Help" at upper right), volunteer here on your profile by typing a message with something referencing the Honor Code and sharing and we would be glad to add you to our WikiTree community. Donna
If you have pre-1700's ancestors to add please read our Pre-1700 profiles info.
To help you get started, view this introductory WikiTree video.
We also have Mentors who will be glad to answer questions.
Thanks for volunteering and welcome to the Tree!
Bill
