Biography

Joseph was born in October 8, 1824 in White County Tennessee. His parents were Samuel Brown, Sr. born in Bucks Co, Penn. and Mary Jane Ramsey born in Tenn. Joseph Brown ... He passed away November 11, 1875 Old City Cemetery , McMinnville, Warren Co. TN . Joseph married Martha Thankful Mitchell 22 May 1851 in Sparta, White County, Tennessee. They were the parents of 2 children: 1. Foster Vincent Brown, Sr, who was Member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Tennessee's 3rd district 2. Sarah Elizabeth Brown who married Dr. W. H. Williamson who left Tennessee for Tarrant Co., Texas. Joseph was a Major in the Civil War.

Joseph met his future wife when he boarding at her father's Jabez Gilead Mitchell's Inn in 1850 when he was circuit court clerk of White County Tennessee. They married the next year.

Interred at Old City Cemetery , McMinnville, Warren Co. TN
