AMANDA (BROWN) BOGART , 89, a resident of Rock Falls for nearly half a century, passed away at 3:20 p.m. Tuesday in the home of her daughter, Mrs. P. J. McAllister, 413 Fifth avenue, Rock Falls with whom she had resided for the past 10 years. She had been in failing health the last six months, but was not bedfast until 10 days ago. The body was removed to the Wheelock funeral home where the rites are to be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday by the Rev. James R. Uhlinger of the Rock Falls Methodist church. Interment will be in the Leon cemetery, south of Prophetstown. Mrs. Bogart was born Oct. 26, 1862 in Cooperstown, N.Y., and came to Tampico with her parents when six years old. She lived there until 1894, when she moved to Rock Falls to make her home. Since the death of her husband, Henry W. Bogart, March 10, 1932, she had resided with her daughter, Mrs. McAllister. She was the last of a family of six children. Mrs. Bogart was a home loving person and until her eyesight began to fail her hands were never at rest. She loved to do needlework and perform the duties of the household. Being of a kind and helpful disposition Mrs. Bogart was always happy when se could be doing something for other people. Being on of the oldest residents of Rock Falls, Mrs. Bogart could recall much of its early history. Four daughters survive their mother, Mrs. John Needham of Prophetstown and Mrs. Robert Callighan, Mrs. P.J. McAllister and Mrs. Ada Beales of Rock Falls. She also leaves four grandchildren, Mrs. Harold Wadsworth and Mrs. John Keith of Sterling. Mrs. Elmer Daniel of Hanover and Robert Callighan, jr. of Rock Falls, and one great grandson, Robert Wadsworth of Sterling. [1]
The funeral of Mrs. Amanda Bogart, who died Tuesday afternoon, took place at 2 p.m. Thursday from the Wheelock funeral home. Rev. James R. Uhlinger, pastor of the Rock Falls Methodist church officiating. Casket attendants were Carl Sommers, Lawrence Hixon, A.E. Deem, Jacob Cantlin, Charles Willett and Lourde Pfulb. Those in charge of the flowers were Mrs. Guy Clifton and Mrs. Anna Von Bergen. The body was taken to Leon community, south of Prophetstown for committal in the cemetery there. A large number of friends formed the concourse. [2]
