Biography

Sarah Brown was born in 1828 in Baston, Lincolnshire, England to John Brown and Mary (Sandall) Brown. She was christened on 28 Jul 1828 in Baston.[1]

In 1841 Sarah Brown (age 12) lived at Baston Thetford House in Baston with her father John (30), mother Mary (30), and brother William (11).[2]

Sarah Brown (age 21, daughter of John Brown) married John Morton (age 23, son of William Morton) on 30 Oct 1849 in Baston, Lincolnshire.[3] The marriage was registered in Bourne, Lincolnshire in the last quarter of the year.[4]

Sarah and John had eight children:

  3. Maria Morton (1853-)
  4. Mary Ann Morton (1855-)
  5. Thomas Morton (1858-)
  6. Joseph Morton (1860-)
  7. Alice Morton (1862-)

In 1851 Sarah Morton (age 22) lived in Baston with her husband John (26, Ag Lab), son William (1), father John Brown (45, Ag Lab), and brother William S Brown (20, Ag Lab).[5]

In 1871 Sarah Morton (age 42) lived in Dowsby, Lincolnshire with her husband John (47, Agricultural Labourer) and four children: Thomas (15, Agricultural Labourer), Joseph (11, Agricultural Labourer), Alice (8, Scholar), and Robert (6, Scholar).[6]

In 1881 Sarah Morton (age 52) lived in Walcot, Lincolnshire with her husband John (56, Agl Lab), daughter Mary A (25, Cook Unemployed), and granddaughter Sarah A (1).[7]

Sarah's husband passed away in 1882.

In 1891 Sarah Morton (age 62) lived in Heydour, Lincolnshire with her son Joseph (31, Agricultural Labourer), daughter Mary A (34), and grandson David (5, Scholar).[8]

In 1901 Sarah Morton (age 72) lived in Walcot with her son Joseph (41, Agricultural Labourer) and daughter Mary A (45).[9]

Sarah Morton passed away in 1903, aged 75 years. Her death was registered in Sleaford, Lincolnshire in the last quarter of the year.[10]
