Biography

James Brown was born, probably in New Hampshire, 5 Dec 1772, the son of James Brown and Anna (_____); [1] [2] [3] died after 11 Jul 1846, when he executed Washington Co deed 60:41, [4] and probably before 1 Jun 1850, when his wife was enumerated in the 1850 federal census of East Machias in the household of their daughter, Sarah, and her son-in-law, Henry A. Gardner. [5]

He married at Machias, Maine, 27 Jun 1819, Mary "Polly" Getchell. [4] [6]
