Biography

David Austin Brown was born in 1883 in Kew, Victoria, Australia, the son of Emma (Kirby) Brown and James Brown.[1]

He married Edith Olive Masters in 1907 in Victoria.[2] Their children were:

David died in August 1949 at his home on 9 Grey Street in Benalla, Victoria.[8]

    The death occurred at his home, 9 Grey Street on Monday last of Mr. David Austin Brown at the age of 65 years. Deceased was a son of James and Emma Brown, and was born at Balwyn. Some years ago he came to Benalla, having acquired "Afton Lodge" and resided there for some years before he came to Benalla to live in retirement. He was married at Dandenong 42 years ago to Miss Edith Olive Masters who survives him, as well as a family of five daughters:-- Joan (Mrs. H. J. Enniss, Kew), Lila (Mrs. L. Williams, Glen Iris), Erma (Mrs. L. H. Ledger, Benalla), Dorothy (Mrs. D. Williams, Kaniva) and Joyce (Mrs. R. Goldsworthy, Kaniva). The late Mr. Brown possessed a very pleasing personality, and during his residence in Benalla became well known and liked for his many good qualities. Sincere sympathy is felt for his relatives who are left to mourn their loss. Burial took place at the Burwood cemetery on Wednesday.
