Sarah Brown was born during 1849 in Ireland to parents James and Rebecca Brown. She moved to Canada sometime before 1861.
Sarah was fourteen years old and attending school during the 1861 Canada Census. She lived in a log house in Egremont, Grey County, Ontario at the time with her widowed mother Rebecca and siblings James, Matilda, William, Ann, and John.
The Brown family continued to live in Egremont, Ontario during the 1871 Census of Canada. The household included the widowed Rebecca (age 54) with her children, John (age 23, farmer) and Sarah (age 21). Also in the house were Rebecca Allan (age 7, student), Thomas Daniels (age 18, farm labourer), and Samuel Queen (age 27, schoolteacher).[1]
Sarah married Samuel S Queen, a 26-year-old school teacher, on April 11, 1871. The wedding took place in Egremont in Grey County, Ontario.[2]
Sarah died on September 23, 1912 at age 63. Interment is at Maplewood Cemetery in Grey County, Ontario, Canada. A photo of her headstone can be found here: [1].
