Jane Brown was born about 1767 in County Tyrone, Ireland. She is the daughter of John Brown and Margaret Eaton.[1]
Jane married Andrew Musgrave December 17, 1784, in Kilskerry, County Tyrone. Jane and Andrew belonged to the Church of England and their marriage was recorded in the Church Register at Kilskerry on the Nore River.[1]
Andrew Musgrave died in 1804 at their home in County Tyrone, Ireland. Shortly after, Jane packed up the kids and headed for America. The family arrived in New York harbor and immediately headed for Kittanning, Pennsylvania, where Jane's brother, Robert, had already settled in 1795.[1]
Jane and her son, John, purchased the block on the southwestern corner of Jefferson and Arch Streets, where the First Presbyterian Church of Kittanning stood in 1941. At that time, the family still owned 60 feet of that property.[1]
Jane married a Hughes, as her second husband, after reaching Kittanning. They had one child, Elizabeth.[1]
Jane Brown Musgrave Hughes was one of the organizers of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Kittanning.[1]
She died in 1850 and was buried with her family in the old Kittanning graveyard on North Jefferson Street.[1]
