Biography

Mary Dorcas Brown was born October 30, 1835 in Noel, Hants County, Nova Scotia to Hezekiah Brown and Sarah Greeno.

Mary Dorcas married Elisha Brown on December 26, 1858 in Noel, Hants County.

In 1871 they were reported in St. Croix, Hants Co. Census, 1881 Brooklyn, Hants Co. Census and 1891 Lower Stewiacke, Colchester Census which would be their residence in Gay's River.

Around 1883 they moved to Gay's River, Colchester County and remained there for 37 years as reported on her death registration. They had at least 11 children.

On October 12, 1920 at the age of 85, Mary passed away in Gay's River, Colchester County and was buried in the Gay's River Cemetery, United Church. Informant for her death was her son Lawrence Brown.
