Biography

Daisy was born December 2, 1905 ^[1] in Haralson County, Georgia. She was the daughter of James R. Brown and Melvina Norton Brown.

On the 1910 Census, she was living in Tallapoosa, Haralson County, Georgia with her parents, five siblings, and grandmother, Sarah Almeda "Sallie" Brown. According to this census, she was born in Georgia. ^[2]

On the 1920 Census, she was living in the household of her widowed mother. According to this census, she was single, attended school, could read and write, and worked as a farm laborer on the home farm.^[3]

On the 1930 Census, she was listed as a 24 year old, married, white female living in Little Creek, Haralson County, Georgia, with her husband, Hollis. According to the census, the age at her first marriage was 21. She was able to read and write, and she had no occupation. Her birthplace and the birthplaces of her parents were listed as Georgia.^[4][5]

According to the 1940 Census, she was listed as a 34 year old, married, white female living in Felton, Haralson County, Georgia with her husband, Hollis, and children: Clifton Wood, Ida Wood, Nora Wood, and James Wood. She lived in the same house in 1935. Her birthplace was listed as Georgia, and the highest level in school that she completed was the 7th grade. Her occupation was listed as housekeeping.^[6]

She died on September 7, 1995 in Haralson County, Georgia.^[7] She was buried at New Canaan Cemetery in Haralson County, Georgia.^[8]
