Biography

The origins of Sarah, wife of John Brown of Hampton have not been discovered. She is not Sarah Walker, niece of John Brown of Rehoboth who sailed on the Elizabeth in 1635, as made clear by Anderson. She is assumed to be the mother of all of his children as there is no record of the death of a prior wife. [1][2]

John Brown married Sarah (_______) Brown (abt.1618-1672) in 1640 in Charlestown, Suffolk, Massachusetts, United States. The couple had 8 children:

Children of John Brown and his wife Sarah Brown:[2]

  1. Sarah Brown
  2. John Browne born August 29, 1643
  3. Benjamin Brown born in 1647
  4. Elizabeth Brown
  5. Jacob Brown born in 1653
  6. Mary born September 13, 1655
  7. Thomas Brown born July 14, 1657
  8. Stephen Brown born in 1659

The children listed above are the only known children of John and Sarah. Others include the children below (without evidence or citation).

Sarah died at the age of about 54 on 6 July 1672 in Hampton, Rockingham, New Hampshire

I just removed father and mother wrongly added. The profile explicitly says he was not her father. Having said that, I'm also adding maintenance categories. This profile needs a lot of work. Hopefully then parents for her can be found.
Sarah, the wife of John Brown of Hampton, has not been identified. She should be Sarah Unknown. This was pointed out several years ago. Hoping we can make it happen.

Walker-21582 and Brown-4269 do not represent the same person because: Walker is maiden name - Tisdale is married name as states in bio

Looks as if the last name at birth for Sarah should be changed to "Unknown." Here is the page on changing the last name at birth (can only be done by a trusted list or manager). Thanks!

Walker-7115 and Walker-1696 appear to represent the same person because: Birth date & place, spouse's surname, death date & place.
