Research Notes
James has a profile on Family Search; however caution is needed when examining the information listed there as the Find-a-Grave Memorial attributed to him is for a different James F. Brown as well as several other sources that are currently linked to him.
More research is needed: the 1880 Census indicates his birth year was 1858 but the 1900 Census lists February of 1868. It is more likely that 1858 is correct but confirmation is needed. His wife is listed as Didema on some records and as Virginia on others; it is believed that her full name may have been Virginia Didema Mullins (or Mullens) but records pertaining to the death of her children list her as: Virginia Mullins, Dema White, Dema Mullins, or Mema Mullins. Other than the one record that lists WHITE - it appears that MULLINS was likely her maiden name but the spelling is uncertain at this time.
