Biography

Rachel Brown was born in 1789. She married Jacob Waymire (his second wife). They had two sons, Hiram and Rudolph. Their son Rudolph died at age 15 in 1846. Rachel died, aged 74-75, on 20 March 1864, and is buried in New Lancaster Cemetery, New Lancaster, Tipton, Indiana. She shares a grave marker with her granddaughter, Rachel S. Waymire, a daughter of Hiram and Sarah. ^[1]

In 1850, the Waymire family lived in Washington Township, Wayne, Indiana. The family included Jacob Waymire, 69, born in North Carolina, a farmer, with $33K in real estate; his wife, Rachel, 51, born in North Carolina; their son, Hiram, 17, born in Indiana; and Mary Jane Grass, 6, born in Indiana. ^[2]

In 1860, the Waymire family lived in Washington Township, Wayne, Indiana. All members of the household were born in Indiana, except as noted. The household included Rachel Waymire, 63, born in North Carolina, a widow, with $3000 in real estate; her son, Hiram Waymire, 27, with $3000 in personal estate; his wife, Sarah E., 21; their two children, Rachel S., 3; and John A., ten months; and Isaac Miller, 23, born in Pennsylvania, a farm laborer. ^[3]
