Born 23 May 1835 in Licking County, Ohio, USA.^[1]

1850 Simeon is listed as a miller's son, living with his parents and eight siblings in Washington Township, Licking County, Ohio, USA.^[3] He is helping his father with the mill and also still attending school.

1860 Simeon marries Rebecca Fowler.^[4]
