Biography

Eliza "Elizabeth" "Liza" Jane Brown was born July 1838 in Ohio, USA.[1][2][3] Her parents are Jonathan Brown and Catharine Ann McKarns.[4]

On June 1, 1840 she was living with her parents and brother in Franklin Township, Columbiana, Ohio. She's a "free white female age < 5," presumably Eliza (who is about 2).[5]

At age 12 on September 21, 1850, she's living on a farm (attending school) with her parents and five siblings, still in Franklin Township.[6]

At age 21 on June 4, 1860, she's living with her parents and seven siblings in Franklin Township, Columbiana County.[7]

On April 23, 1861, Eliza married Robert Woodside King in Columbiana County, Ohio.[8] Their children are;

  4. Frank King
  5. Robert Chalmers King
  6. Berdice Adella King
  7. Jonathan Gilbert King

On June 1, 1870, Eliza is a housekeeper living with husband and their first four children, in Franklin Township.[2]

On June 1, 1880, she's living on a farm with her husband and their 9 children, still in Franklin Township.[9]

She lived in Millport, Columbiana, Ohio, at the time her father signed his will on April 11, 1885. When he died in January 1889, she inherited $300, minus $186.27 for notes owed by her husband. (Millport is the closest town to the family farm.)[10]

On June 15, 1900 she is housekeeping on the family farm with her husband and three of their children in Franklin Township.[3]

Eliza died in 1903 and is buried in Bethesda Cemetery, Columbiana County, Ohio, United States.[11]
