The Christian Record. August 1860. J. Wiseman, Obituary for Catherine Brown

Catharine was born in 1762. She passed away in 1860. Wife of Israel Hinds, Sr. Daughter of William and Mary Brown.

"Died at her residence on Blue River Washington County, Indiana on the 9th day of June, 1860, our much respected old Sister Catharine Hind, consort of Israel Hind, deceased, in the 98th year of her age. Sister Hind seems to have been awakened to a religious sensation in the ancient revival in Kentucky, under the preaching of that good man of God,B.W. Stone and since coming to this county, baptized by Elder John Wright, took membership among the disciples in Blue River Church, where she remained to the day of her death.

She was noted as a kind and skillful visitor of the afflicted of her sex, and better than all, a christian, the highest style of humanity. She was a meek, quiet, and sensible woman, and had secured the confidence and esteem of all who knew her.

She has left two daughters and two sons, the church and a large circle of friends and relatives to mourn over her departure - her husband and two sons and one daughter had preceded her to the grave.

May her surviving children, together with the church to which she belonged, endeavor to copy her manner of living, and be prepared to meet her in the blest abode, is the prayer of the writer who knew her long and loved her much." -J. Wiseman, Obituary printed in the August 1860 The Christian Record.
