DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Jonathan by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Jonathan:
Please see Brown-Gilbert and Allied Families, 1947. While the author is anonymous, one researcher believes it was preparted by Homer W. Brainard, FASG who died in 1947. After consultation with David C. Dearborn, ASG president and a Senior Genealogist at NEGHS, he can not confirm the author but states that the quality of the work is high and reminds us that Brainard's interest and work on Gilberts is well known.
The birth source for Jonathan includes records for a Jonathan, father of at least 6 children. These are Lidia b. 1736/7, Thomas b. 1739, Jonathan Jr. b. 1741, David b. 1743/4, Rebecca b. 1746 and Abigail b. 1749. In these cases only the father is given. Others include the children of Jonathan and Abigail (no maiden name given) Brown. [A marriage record would be helpful.]. These additional children would be Sarah b. 1753 and Elijah b. 1757.
IF these two Jonathans of Hebron are indeed the same person, this would be evidence that he is different from the Jonathan born in Salem and Died in Brimfield. Notice that Lidia, Thomas, are born before the marriage of Jonathan and Abigail who married in Brimfield. Also, Jonathan of Salem moved to Brimfield in 1939, thus all his subsequent children would have been born in Brimfield not Hebron.
Brown-24938 and Brown-7130 are not ready to be merged because: Sources and dates need resolved. Also married to same Abigail Russell and same children. Conflated.
