Elizabeth Brown Layman was born in Greene county, N.Y. on July 25, 1813. In 1831 she married Martin G. Layman. Why had thirteen children, all of whom survived to adulthood.
Her parents were David & Jannetje (Jane) Conklin Brown.
Mrs. Layman passed away on November 2, 1886, at age of 73. She is buried in Crystal Lake Cemetery. The one paved road in the cemetery is named "Elizabeth Avenue" in her honor.
