Biography

Edward, son of William Brown and Anne Apps was born in 1843 at Boughton Malherbe. [1] New York, U.S., Arriving Passenger and Crew Lists (including Castle Garden and Ellis Island), 1820-1957 (25 Apr 1871) 1880, 1900, 1910, 1920, 1930 US Census 1875,1915 NYS Census

In the 1851 Census, Edward was counted in the household of William Brown at Grafty Green, Boughton Malherbe in Hollingbourne, Kent, England, his role was son, and his occupation was recorded as scholar. [2] In 1861, Edward was counted at Cole Bridge, Boughton Malherbe, Kent, single, where his role was recorded as Servant, occupation: Farm Servant.[3]

Edward Brown, age 22, bachelor, Labourer, residing at Boughton Malherbe , son of William Brown, Labourer and Thirza Jarvis, age 26, residing at Boughton Malherbe, dau of William Jarvis, were married at Boughton Malherbe on 3rd March 1866. Witnesses were James Wilkins Collins and Emma X Carpenter. [4], [5]

Edward was counted in the 1871 Census at Aylesford, in Kent, aged 27,widowed, occupation: Plate Layer and lodger.[6]

Edward Brown, age 27, bachelor, labourer, residing at St Peters, son of William Brown, shoemaker married Elizabeth May, age 25, residing at St Peters, dau of Stephen May were married by banns at St Peters, Maidstone in Kent on 8 April 1871. Witnesses to the marriage were Stephen May and Amelia X Mason. [7]

Edward Browne ... He passed away in 1931. [8]

Research Notes

The signature for Edward Brown's 1866 marriage is a match for the signature on the 1871 marriage.

Grace Browne Cornell recalled that her grandfather Ted said he worked at Old King Cole's --which fits with abovementioned Cole Bridge as his place of employment in 1861.
