Mary (Browne) Jordan was a Virginia colonist.

Uncertain Parentage

According to Some Old Surry Families, Mary is not the daughter of William Browne and Mary Browne. Their daughter, Mary, died as an infant.[1]

According to a family history, it is likely he had another child named Mary, after the first Mary Browne died as an infant, the reasoning is as follows: "His spouse Mary Brown's parents are not confirmed. This family of Jordan is closely associated with William Browne, Sr., of Four Mile Tree (two of his brothers married daughters of William Browne), but no daughter Mary is mentioned in William Brown's 1704 will. There is a Mary Browne mentioned in his uncles will as a godchild. There is a granddaughter "Mary Jordan, the younger" mentioned in the 1704 will of William Browne, Sr., but this has been interpreted by other genealogists as the daughters Mary of other Browne daughters married to Jordans. However as our George Jordan's wife was a Mary and Mary his daughter would have been Mary Jordan "the younger" I believe that we can claim this reference as well as the others and with more substantial cause."[2]

On the other hand other sources give her father as Henry Browne, who died in Surry County, Virginia in 1705, but it looks like that he may have been confused with Col. Henry Browne with the death date taken from William Browne, his son-in-law.[3]

Browne-1475 and Browne-626 appear to represent the same person because: Clear duplicate

Her first child was born 1678.. I believe her birth date was 5 yrs apart from her husband at 1665.
Browne-626 and Browne-642 appear to represent the same person because: George Jordan, II, son of Arthur and nephew of Lt. Col. George Jordan was born in 1657 in Surry Co., Virginia. He married Mary Browne, daughter of Henry Browne, who died in 1705 in Surry County. He was in the Surry County Militia in 1687. George Jordan made his will in Surry on 18 May 1718 and it was probated on 20 August 1718. In the will, George Jordan mentions his wife Mary; his sons: George, Arthur, Thomas, James, River, and Charles; as well as his daughters Mary Anderson and Elizabeth Baley. George Jordan died in August 1718 in Surry County, Virginia. George and Mary (Browne) Jordan had 9 children:
