John Brownson was born in 1665 in Wethersfield, Connecticut, the son of John Bronson and Hannah Scott. He married Rachel Buck (b.1678) in 1697.[1] He married, second, Marcy Chatterton of New Haven, and soon removed from Wethersfield to South Carolina.[2]
His children were John, Mary (married _____ Ford) and Sarah (married _____ McGregor).[3]
John passed away before 1711, as he is not listed in his father's will and was noted to be deceased. His own son, John, was given a lot on Notchy Sleepy Plain, noted as "my Grandson John Browson, son of my son John Brownson Deceased."[4]
John was the cousin of John Bronson. This profile is the grandson of the immigrant John Brownson who migrated to South Carolina. His cousin noted above is the grandson of immigrant Richard Brownson; that cousin stayed in Connecticut. See the profile of Richard's son John Brownson (who stayed in Connecticut) for full details and research by Coddington and others.
