Christopher died of cerebritis (brain fever) at the Confederate States Hospital in Petersburg, Va. He was a private in Company I, 49th Regiment, Virginia Infantry. His body was sent to Tazewell and his father met the train and took the body in his wagon.[3] He enlisted on 02 Apr 1862, married in December of that year,and was dead 6 weeks or so later.
