Samuel served in the 39th Regiment, Tennessee Mounted Infantry (CSA).
He is said to have lived in Oklahoma and died c. 1906,[1] yet his widow is found in the 1900 census of St. Louis with a number of the children. It turns out that Samuel and Adina were separated or divorced. He remarried to Nancy Ann (Ritter) Bayless and died 15 Dec 1897 in Sebastian County, Arkansas.[2]
