Biography

He is sometimes found in the records as Zacharias but more often as Zachariah. He lived to the age of 99 years!

He married his first cousin Elizabeth Broyles and when she died he remarried to Susan Riner, sister to the wives of his brothers Jacob and Absalom.

27 Oct 1796 - Peter Broyles and son Zachariah buy 150 acres from Jacob and Anne Rouse, Madison Co., Va.[5]

1797...1800 - Zach Broyles is taxed for personal property in Madison Co., Va.[6]

27 Nov 1804 - Peter Broyle and Elizabeth, and Zachariah Broyle and Elizabeth sell 401 acres to Aaron Gaar. Culpeper Co., Va. Deed Book 4:58[7]

13 Feb 1805 - Zachary Broyles and Susannah Riner wed in Madison Co.[8]

c. 1809 - He moved with his father to Monroe Co., Va. (now West Virginia).

1810 - Zachariah is not listed as a head of household in Madison Co., Va. Neither is he listed in Monroe Co., Va. He wasn't living with his father, as Peter had four boys with him, most likely Daniel, Absolam, Jacob, and Aaron.

11 Oct 1823 - Zachariah is named as a son in his father's will. Monroe Co., Va. [9]

24 Oct 1828 - Zachariah Broyles of Monroe Co. sells land to Aaron Gaar. Madison Co.[10]
