He married secondly, between 15 August and 17 November 1590, Janet, fourth daughter of Alexander, Lord Elphinstone and relict of Robert, of Ardersier and Findrassie, son of George, Earl of Rothes.[2]

According to this source, there were two sons and two daughters, one named Elizabeth and one named Janet, neither of whom it says married a Butt.[3]
