Research Notes

According to Red Book of Scotland, Edward Bruce, Earl of Carrick, or Thomas Bruce, both brothers of King Robert I of Scots, could be the ancestor of Bruce of Clackmannan. Thinking is leaning towards Thomas Bruce who was apparently killed in 1307, eleven years before this Thomas's apparent birth.

The problem with Wikipedia is that anybody can have there say. Would suggest following the records closer to the time.

Let's look at what the premier Incyclopedia has to say: CLACKMA'NNAN,,W,and R. Chambers, 1868 version Chambers Encyclopedia, page 73. Also as a reference: The Baronage of Scotland, containing an Historical and Gentry of the Kingdom. Author- Sir Robert Douglas of Glenbervie. Date published-Jan 1798 BRUCE OF CLACKMANNAN- page 238-239 So you will notice that Thomas is not called Thomas in the records as he is called Edward Bruce, by his birth name ( apparently didn't like the name Edward and called himself Thomas) Would suggest naming this profile Sir Edward "Thomas" Bruce and correctly number him as 4th of Clackmannan as his Father was Sir Robert Bruce 3rd of Clackmannan, who's brother is King David 2nd of Clackmannan, who's father is Robert the Bruce 1st of Clackmannan.

"It has been suggested that he https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Bruce,_Lord_of_Liddesdale may have been the father of Thomas Bruce, 1st Baron of Clackmannan, but there is no clear evidence for this."
