Biography
Jane was born on 01 January 1835. [1] She was the daughter of David Bruce and Margaret Park. She is named JEAN on the registration of her birth.
She had 5 brothers and 2 sisters.
In 1860 she gave birth to a son, William Wilson. She was unmarried and living at the home of her brother George Bruce in Memsie in 1861. William Wilson, age 1, is also on the Census as nephew of the householder.
Jane married James Rettie in 1863. They had 7 children - James, Margaret, David, Isabella, John, Jane and Eliza (Lizzie). William Wilson seems to have been brought up along with the other children and is listed on the 1871 Census as "son" (in relationship to the head of the household - James Rettie).
She passed away in 1910. [2]
