Alexander Bruce was born on 5 Sep 1797 in Garrard, Kentucky. General Alexander Bruce was the son of John Bruce 1748–1827 and Elizabeth Povall (Clay) Bruce 1755–1832.[1]
He married Amanda (Bragg) Bruce 1803–1852, on 18 Feb 1819 in Lewis County, Kentucky. [2] The couple had the following children: Brunette Proctor Bruce Redden (1820 - 1908), Thomas Joseph Bruce (1822 - 1896), Henry Clay Bruce (1824 - 1909), John Logan Bruce (1825 - 1915), Nancy Birney Bruce Elliott (1828 - 1898) and Horatio Washington Bruce (1830 - 1903).
Alexander Bruce died on 18 Apr 1851 (aged 53) in Vanceburg, Lewis County, Kentucky.
