Biography

Lloyd Bruce graduated with a Master of Arts (M.A.) from Trinity College, Dublin He was the Rector at Stokesley, Yorkshire, England. He was the Chaplain to the Archbishop of York. He held the office of Canon of York.

Londonderry Standard dated 14 October 1863: "October 6th at St. Nicholas, Oxford by the Archbishop of York, the Rev. Lloyd S Bruce, youngest son of the later Sir James R. Bruce, Bart of Downhill, Rector of Hale in Hampshire to Jane, daughter of James H Skene, Esq., HM Consulate at Aleppo and granddaughter of James Skene, Esq of Rubislaw". Alumni Oxoniensis (1715-1886) volume 1.djvu/199 Bruce, Lloyd Stewart, M.A. Trinity Coll., Dublin (B.A. 1852, M.A. 1854), ad eundem 4 Dec, 1856, canon of York 1873, rector of Stokesley, Yorks, 1883-6, rector of Hale, Hants, 1862-5, of Barton, Notts, 1865-72, vicar of Scalby 1872-5, and recfor of Carlton-in-Lindrick 1875-83 ( son of Sir James Robertson Brace, Bart.), died 19 March, 1886.
