Isabella also known as Bella was born to William Bruce (1839-1899) a weaver in Stonehouse, Lanarkshire and Margaret (Brown) Bruce (1841-1924) on 20 Feb 1882 in Stonehouse, Lanarkshire.[1] Isabella was the second child with the same name to William and Margaret, their first child named Isabella Bruce (1867-1879) died on 12 Sept 1879.[2]
When Isabella (Bella) was 9 years old she was living at 20 Townhead Street, Stonehouse, Lanarkshire, still a schoolgirl. There she lived with her parents William Bruce (1839-1899) a silk weaver, mother Margaret (Brown) Bruce (1841-1924) and 7 siblings, 5 were silk weavers, Mary Bruce (1862-1914), Jane Bruce (1870-),Joan Bruce (1875-abt.1940) and Janet Bruce (1877-abt.1930), her two other siblings were scholars, Agnes Bruce (1879-abt.1940) and Robina (Bruce) Rae (1884-1939) [3]
Isabella lived until she was 69 years old and died in Possilpark, a district of Glasgow, situated north of the River Clyde, on 28 June 1951. [4]
