Biography

Ernest was born in Byker, Newcastle on 26th May 1911. He was the son of John Bruce and Jane Young.

He attended Ouseburn Junior Mixed School, admitted on 28th April 1919. He lived at 106 Dunns Terrace Byker at the time. He left the school on 17th July 1925.

In 1939 he was still living at 106, Dunns Terrace. He was described as a grocery shop assistant. Also there were his mother, Jane, a brother Richard Thompson Bruce, a railway engine driver, a sister, Mary E Graham a charwoman and one other.

He married Jane Coxon Morton in Newcastle in 1940.

He passed away in hospital on 8th February 1992. He lived at 38 Heaton Park View, Heaton Newcastle at the time.
