Margret Bryan came to Houlka as a math teacher, and ended up marrying Mr. Bud Turner. She came from Carroll County, MS. After marriage in later years, she helped her mother in law in the Turner Dry Goods Store and served as the first school counselor in Chickasaw County Schools in Chickasaw County, MS. She is buried beside her husband, George Colton "Bud" Turner in Salmon Cemetery, located in Randolph in Pontotoc Co., MS.
Obituary: TURNER, MARGRET BRYAN - 93 of HOULKA,A RETIRED SCHOOL TEACHER and STORE OWNER , died on FRIDAY MAY 5TH.Visitation is scheduled for NOON UNTIL 3 P.M. SATURDAY at HOULKA UNITED METHODIST CHURCH. Funeral Services are scheduled for SATURDAY , at 3 P.M. AT HOULKA UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, officiated by REV B. F LEE AND REV HARRISON UPSHAW. Burial will be at SALMON CEMETERY. SHE IS THE WIDOW OF MR BUD TURNER.SHE IS SURVIVED BY TWO DAUGHTERS MRS BECKY TURNER AND MRS CINDY MORGAN. A DAUGHTER IN LAW MRS JOYCE TURNER.. SHE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH MY A SON and her husband MR BUD TURNER .[1]
