Biography

Hanna is the child of Andrew Buchanan and Joanna Hay.

She was born on 27 Oct 1780 in Abingdon, Washington County, Virginia, USA.

Hannah married John Buchanan, son of her fathers brother Moses.

Alabama, U.S., Surname Files Expanded, 1702–1981 "Moses Buchanan in Fincastle Co., wed 1st Elizabeth Buchanan(dates and Parents unknown) and they had 3 children- 1. Robert 1777-1845 (have will & ch'n), wed Sarah Hampton; 2. John 1778-1845 & 3. "Old Squire" Samuel (b. wed & d ?) Moses and the three sons went from Washington Co., VA, to Lincoln Co, Tenn. but he returned. As widow of Andrew, Joanna (Hay) Buchanan we, as 2d w., his brother Moses Buchanan. She went to Davidson Co., Tenn. Her 1st husbands nephew and her step-son, John Buchanan(Moses son) , wed her daughter Hannah Buchanan (Andrews daughter), John and Hannah thus were not only spouses and 1st Cousins but also step-kin." The above Margaret (Buchanan) Thompson in 1860 (aged 81) listed all Buchanan's known to her but she had cousins in PA. that she did not know. Charles B Edmonson (1935 was of Fayetteville, Lincoln County, TN) had records. I consolidate data form the above 2 sources and cross checked recognized authorities to give the foregoing outline, a result of much travel & study over a number of years. VJSA (Miss.) She died on 10 Feb 1861 in Buchanan, Lincoln County, Nebraska, USA. [1] [2]

Buchanan-1171 and Unknown-362050 are not ready to be merged because: Not sure these are the same person. I think somebody may have attributed a known gravestone and its dates to

Two different Hannah’s. I believe those Hannah’s may be related probably cousins which has caused confusion, I don’t k ow which Hannah is actually buried in the Buchanan cemetery in Lincoln county Tennessee but I don’t think either of them is buried in Lincoln Nebraska. That’s an error.
