Biography

He is noticed in Ferguson's work[1], in the Marriage Register of the Scots Brigade when he appears, as the deceased husband, in a contract of marriage, 8 May 1761, at Nijmegan in the United Netherlands (now in Gelderland, Netherlands), between Robert Crookshanks, stated to be of Captain Macalister's company in General Marjoribank's Regiment, and Elizabeth Bomig, stated to be widow of the deceased Alexander Buchanan. They were married on 12 May 1761.

It seems likely that Elizabeth, judging by her name, was from the local community, Alexander was one of the Scottish force in the United Netherlands and killed prior to 1761.
