Biography

Jane (Buchanan) Breckinridge lived in Appalachia, in Virginia.

Jane Buchanan was born about 1759 in Virginia. Jane's father, Col Buchanan died in 1769 when she was ten years old and William Preston, made her his ward.

On 2 November 1778, she married Colonel John Floyd, [1] and had three sons:

  1. William Preston Floyd
  2. George Rogers Clark Floyd
  3. John Floyd would become governor of Virginia as would his son, John Buchanan Floyd.

On 9 December 1784 in Jefferson, Virginia (now KY), Jenny married Alexander Breckenridge. [2] They had three sons:

  1. James Douglas Breckenridge
  2. Henry Brown Breckenridge
  3. Robert Breckenridge

She died 14 May 1812 in Jefferson County, Kentucky and was buried in Floyd-Breckinridge Cemetery, Plymouth Village, Jefferson County, Kentucky. [3]
