Concerning Patrick and Margaret’s (P&M) nine children;

Patrick Buchanan, born April 16, 1745, in Tyrone county, Ireland; married, February 7, 1776, Margaret Scott, born February 22, 1753. He died November 19, 1824. She died in her 93rd year. He was an elder and she a life-long member of the Presbyterian Church.

Issue:

P&M 2. John, born January 2, 1779, married July 14, 1819. John Buchanan was a lieutenant in the 43rd Regiment of Foot, 1813, with Lord Wellington.

Hi Tricia,

According to his service record he joined the 43rd as an Ensign on 5th June 1806 and became a Lieutenant on 5th May 1808. He was retired due to ill-health on 24th August 1814.

He married at Sixmilecross near Omagh on 14th July 1819, and as of 1828 he had two sons living:

  1. Charles, born 5th May 1820
  2. James, born 29th March 1822.

In 1828 he was living at Conny Warren near Omagh
