Biography

George Buchanan, b. 1648, of Blairlusk [Dumbartonshire, Scotland] sold this estate to his brother William and moved (1674) to Deroran (County Tyrone) Northern Ireland, where he married (1675) Elizabeth Mayne and had four sons:

1. William Buchanan, b. 1677, Tyrone, Ireland, d. 1749, Deroran, Tyrone, Ireland.
2. John Buchanan, b. 1676, Ireland.
3. George Buchanan, b. 1678, Ireland.
4. Thomas Buchanan, b. 1680, Ireland.
5. Margaret, born in Ireland ^[1]

George Buchanan (ca. 1648), of the Blairlusk cadet, settled with his younger son John (ca. 1676) in Tyrone. It is from George, and his son Thomas, that many of the American families are descended, including James Buchanan, who served as 15th president of the United States. ^[2]
