Aunt Nell - as I knew her - used to come and stay with my Gran for a holiday, catching up with local relatives. Nellie was a pastry cook according to Auntie Molly. She used to make her own bread, and did so when she stayed at my Grans. As a lad I used to really enjoy the smell and taste of this bread! I can remember visiting her house in Macclesfield when Uncle Jim was still alive, and later visiting her retirement bungalow in Poynton. Aunt Nell moved back to Poynton to be close to her daughter after Uncle Jim died, they lived on Distaff Road - she in a pensioner's bungalow and her daughter in a council house.
