Sarah was probably born in what would become Carter Co., TN in 1792.[1][2] The borders were unclear in the early 1790s, so the location may have been reckoned as either Virginia or North Carolina, and her father was one of the signatories of a petition to form the State of Franklin out of that territory in 1787. Carter Co. was formed in 1796. She married David Gentry in Carter on 21 Oct 1811.[3] Based on her age and the presence of William Buckner in Carter Co. at the time, she was most likely one of his daughters, particularly since he witnessed a deed involving David Gentry's brother Benjamin in 1823.[4]
