Alonslow (also called "Alonzo" and "A.J.") was born in Baldwin County, Georgia in about 1824. He married Caroline Moseley in about 1847, based on the birth of their first child.
In 1850, [1] "Alonslow J. Buffington" was listed as a schoolteacher in Lauderdale, Mississippi. He was listed as 26 years old and born in Georgia. His wife, Caroline, was 20 and born in Alabama. They had two children: Samuel, age 3, born in Mississippi; and Charles, age 1 1/2, born in Mississippi.
In 1860, [2] A. J. Buffington (37) was a schoolteacher in Scott, Mississippi (the Post Office was Morthon). Caroline was 30, Samuel was listed as 13; Charles was 11; and Caroline (born in Mississippi) was 7 months old.
In 1870, [3] 48 year old A.J. was a schoolteacher in Simpson, Mississippi. The household included Caroline (42); Charles (21); Willie (10 born in Mississippi); Mary (5, born in Mississippi); and Frank (1, born in Mississippi).
He passed away in 1880. [4] He was a school teacher in Mississippi.
