Richard Buffington was born in 1795 in Hampshire County, West Virginia. His parents were Joel Buffington (1754-1821) and Elizabeth Logan (1752–1834). He married Mary "Polly" Brown in 1828 in Illinois. Richard Buffington passed away 1840 in Beverly, Adams County, Illinois, at the age of 45, and was buried in the Mound Prairie Cemetery there.[1][2][3]
