Most genealogies have called this woman Abigail, but contemporary records refer to her as Abiel, Abiell, Abial, and Abiall.
Abiel was one of the twin girls born to Joseph and Sarah Bullard of Medfield in the fall of 1681. Her twin sister was Hannah.[1] The birth record reads "Bullen, Abiell, Twin d. of Joseph and Sarah [Bullard] _______ 29 (rec. between Sep 20 and Nov 26, 1681)", so not only is her first name confused but so is the family name. Bullen and Bullard are frequently confused, especially in Medfield for this family.
Twins often died early in those days, but there is no record in Medfield of the death of Abiah/Abigail or her twin Hannah.
Abiel married Abraham Carpenter of Rehoboth, in that town on 1 May 1705.[2] Abiel and Abraham had three boys, Abraham, Abial, and Simion (Simeon?).
Abiel died in June 1713, at age 32, a few months after Simeon was born.[3]
