Funeral services for Melvin C. Bunting, 58 year old Albion businessman who had passed away at his home west of Albion early Sunday morning, were held from the Ingram Funeral Home Tuesday afternoon. Rev. Donald Frantz officiated and burial was at Graceland Cemetery.
Mr. Bunting had operated the Red Hill Service Station for over 20 years, prior to selling the business to Charles Metcalf several months ago. Also, he was distributor for DX products and Goodyear tires. His health had been failing for about one year.
Born in Edwards County on January 19, 1901, he was the son of pioneer Ford dealer Oscar A. and Mrs. Clara Simms Bunting. He was married to the former Edith Hortin in 1935.
Surviving are his wife, Edith Bunting; two sons, Ralph of Detroit and Ross, a student at the University of Illinois; two sisters, Mrs. Carroll Mills of Phoenix, Ariz, and Mrs. I. W. Schaffer of White Water, Wisconsin; seven brothers, Joseph F., Emil A. and Gilbert of Albion, Lyman of Ellery, Ira of Round Lake, James of Jacksonville and Glen of Evanston.
