Biography
In 1900 he rented his farm.
In 1910 he owned his farm free of mortgage.
In 1920 and 1930 he owned his home free of mortgage and was retired. In 1930 he lived alone in Gratis Township.
His obituary (on the Preble County web site) indicates he was survived by his three children and 5 grandchildren. He was a member of the Conservative Church of the Brethren. No obituary in Middletown.
The information on his death certificate was provided by his son Charles. His parents were given as David and Mary Ann (Bell) Bird. David was born in West Virginia, Mary Ann in Darke County, Ohio. His death certificate says he was born in Illinois, and the 1860 census says Ohio, 1870 Indiana, other sources agree on Iowa.
