Biography

Sarah was baptised September 2, 1759. She was the daughter of Peter Burger and Margritt Sluyter. Her baptism was witnessed by Wouter Sluyter and Sarah Van Steenburg. [1]

It is written that her husband arrived in the area known as Pakatakan (later Margaretville, Delaware Co.) at the age of 16 (1771) where the Peter Burger family resided. Familes were forced out of the area during the Revolutionary War and then returned to the area in 1783.

Sarah married Frederick Kittle on 28 May 1780. The record reads as follows:

Friederik Kittel, j.m., born and reside in Woedstock [Woodstock], and Sara Burger, J.D., born and reside under the jurisdiction of Rochester. Baans published, but dates not given.[2]

Note

The LDS, International Genealogical Index (IGI) has an entry for Sarah Burger born 2 Sep 1759, father P. Burger and Margritt Sluyter -- no original source is given [3]
