He was first married to Rebecca Yost and had two step-daughters, Rachel Yost and Catharine Yost Meinshausen. After Rebecca's death, George married Margaret Houck or Hauck, born 1 Aug 1801 and died 16 Apr 1869 in Mill Village. Both are buried in Mackey Hill Cemetery in Mill Village. The children of George and Margaret are as follows: 1) Simon Burger, married Barbara Fryer; 2) Rudolphus Burger married Henrietta Range; 3) George Burger married Jane, last name unknown and after her death married Mary, last name unknown; 4) Elizabeth Burger married Isaac Lunger; 5) Margaret Burger (my great-great grandmother), married James A. Boyd; 6) Susan Burger, married a Shultz, first name unknown; 7) Henry Burger, married Sarah, last name unknown, then married Susan, last name unknown; 8) Anthony Burger, married Cordelia, last name unknown; 9) Jacob Burger, married Esther Crandall. Esther died shortly after the birth of her baby girl. Unknown if Jacob Burger died soon afterwards, also, or if he married a second time to Margaret, last name unknown. The baby girl by Esther Crandall was raised in the home of George and Margaret Burger, the grandparents.

This is probably the same George Burger referred to in the passage: "The Burger Grist Mill, on French Creek, in Le Boeuf Township, was built by George Burger about 1830" -- History of Erie County, Pennsylvania - published 1884. Page 264.
