Biography

The birth of Sary Burges is recorded among the records of All Hallow's Parish as the daughter of Edward & Sary Burgess, but the date is missing. She was born around 1690 and was baptized with several of her siblings on 13 NOV 1698. Her marriage to Benjamin Gaither on 8 SEP 1709 is recorded in the same parish. [1]

ii. John Gaither was born 24 APR 1713 in Anne Arundel, and died 6 SEP 1784 in Anne Arundel. He married Agnes Rogers BEF 1745. She was born 2 OCT 1723.

iii. Edward Gaither was born 20 DEC 1714 in Prince George, MD, and died 1777 in Montgomery County, Maryland. He married Eleanor Whittle Davis. She was born 1729 in Anne Arundel, and died in North Carolina.

iv. Henry Gaither was born 7 MAY 1724 in Anne Arundel County, MD, and died 21 AUG 1783 in Montgomery County, Maryland. He married Martha Ridgely BEF 1746, daughter of William Ridgely and Elizabeth Ridgely. She was born ABT 1724, and died BEF 3 OCT 1798.

v. Sarah Gaither was born 29 MAR 1726 in Anne Arundel, Maryland. She married Richard Warfield ABT 1740, son of Alexander Warfield and Sarah Elizabeth Pierpont. He was born ABT 1714 in Anne Arundel, MD, and died 15 MAY 1752.

vi. Anne Gaither was born 5 FEB 1728/29 in "Gaither's Chance", Anne Arundel County, MD, and died 29 MAY 1783 in Baltimore, Maryland. She married John Hammond 14 MAY 1748 in Annapolis, Anne Arundel, MD, son of Thomas John Hammond and Anne Cockey. He was born 6 JUN 1728 in Anne Arundel, and died 1780 in Baltimore County, Maryland.

vii. Mary Gaither was born 17 MAR 1731/32 in Anne Arundel, MD. She married Edward Norwood, son of Edward Norwood and Ruth Owings. On Tuesday the 14th Instant, died, in Anne Arundel County, Mrs. Sarah Gaither, Relict of Mr. Benjamin Gaither, formerly of the same County, in the 79th Year of her Age. a Gentlewoman endowed with many good Qualities, and who performed the various Stations of Life with an unblemished Character, having been a faithful Wife, a kind and indulgent Parent, a humane Mistress, a kind Neighbour, benevolent Friend, and to her own Sex, an agreeable Companion.
